Patient Box
- The Patient Box is the breath delivery control center. It contains
a pressure transducer for monitoring airway pressures, and the pinch
valve that regulates the flow of gas to the patient.
- This component is attached to the Life Pulse via a six-foot cable
that allows it to be placed in the patient's bed, thus the name Patient
Box.
- Placing the inhalation valve and pressure transducer as close to
the patient as possible is what makes High-Frequency Jet Ventilation
a uniquely effective mode of ventilation. This design concept is so
critical to the success of the Life Pulse it is patented.
- Pushing the small high velocity breaths through the shortest length
of tubing before entering the endotracheal tube is critical to effective
gas exchange at the lowest possible pressure.
- Monitoring airway pressure close to the patient facilitates fast
and accurate pressure readings, which allows the Life Pulse to quickly
adjust its driving pressure to compensate, moment to moment, for changes
in the patient's compliance or resistance.
- It is the Patient Box that gives the Life Pulse its unique capabilities
and sets it apart as the most effective infant ventilator for PIE
and other airleaks on the market today.
